Diagnostic Testing

The key to effective treatment protocols is finding out the root cause of the problem. Diagnostic tests help our physicians diagnose and detect disease, injuries, co-morbidities and other related or non-related medical conditions. Testing allows our doctors to detect the problem objectively and re-test if needed after treatment to assure our patients are fully recovered.

Having all necessary technology under one roof gives Goodlife Physical Medicine the edge to help our patients to a permanent fix quicker.

Diagnostic Ultrasound

Doppler Diagnostic Ultrasound is also known as sonography. It captures live images inside the body through sound waves. Ultrasound is considered the gold standard to detect and diagnose a rotator cuff injury or tear. The test takes only a few minutes and it is a much more affordable alternative to an MRI.

Digital X-Rays

X-Ray technology has come a long way in recent years. The use of Digital X-Rays significantly lowers the exposure to the patients, provides a much clearer image and makes sharing x-rays with specialists much easier. X-Rays are used to diagnose bone fractures, postural syndromes, arthritis, congenital malformations, tendinitis, scoliosis, spinal deformities, tumors and infections.

Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Testing (NCV)

EMG is a diagnostic test often utilized by your doctor when a patient has numbness, tingling , shooting pain, pain or weakness into the arms, hands, legs or feet. Patients often refer to these symptoms as a pinched nerve. This help your doctor identify which nerve is affected and why. EMG measures the muscles response to electrical nerve stimulation, which helps diagnose nerve and muscle abnormalities. NCV, however measures the response rate of your peripheral nervous system which give you feeling to your extremities. Examples of positive findings for EMG would be muscular dystrophy, herniated discs and peripheral nerve damage, while NCV will commonly diagnose Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Vascular Testing

Vascular Testing is utilized to assure the circulatory system is functioning properly. Vascular problems can sometimes disguise themselves as neuromusculoskaletal problems and without proper diagnosis the underlying condition will never be addressed. As a person ages unhealthy changes can happen to the blood vessels. Vascular testing uses doppler ultrasound technology to measure blood flow through various points in the body. Testing is quick and painless but can diagnose underlying cardiovascular disease, disorders of the heart and blood vessels.

MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging)

This scan lets doctors see inside your body without using radiation. Instead, MRIs use magnets and radio waves. An MRI shows clear views of your soft tissues.
